Herrera for Mayor Kickoff
Reduced perceived waiting time by implementing interactive activities for 500+ enthusiastic supporters.
The Challenge
In less than two weeks, design a kickoff event for the Herrera for Mayor campaign that will capture the media’s attention and entice guests to join the campaign.
The Solution
Pack the event space to generate buzz that the Herrera campaign is gaining momentum. Use hands-on activities to captivate and engage guests, while they wait for the event to start. Invite guests to sign and write their best wishes on a hand-painted oversized Herrera for Mayor sign. Create a children’s area with outlined coloring sheets of the campaign sign. Design photo opportunities using a step and repeat backdrop display that emphasizes the Herrera for Mayor logo. Setup outreach stations where guests can ask questions and supporters can sign up for hosting house parties, phone banking, and precinct walking.
The Result
On a wet and rainy morning, Dennis Herrera announced the official start of his campaign for mayor of San Francisco with an inspiring speech, in front of 500+ enthusiastic supporters. The multipronged approach reduced perceived waiting time, created decorations for the campaign headquarters, generated content for social media channels, and improved the stickiness of the event as attendees went online to view and share their experience.
